Lorton Entertainment is a film and television financier, producer and distributor founded in 2014 and based in London, UK.

Background

Lorton Entertainment was founded in 2014 by Julian Bird and a consortium of private financiers. The business was created on a founding principle of bringing strict investment disciplines of city financing to the film and television content sector.

What we do

Having initially launched as a financing business, Lorton quickly added a Distribution arm in 2015 and a production arm in 2016 and has subsequently grown into a vertically integrated business offering Finance, Production, Sales and Distribution. Since inception Lorton Entertainment has successfully raised and invested third party capital into the production and release of over 20 independent films.

Projects Include

George Ezra documentary End to End, Oasis documentary Supersonic (Best Documentary - Empire Awards) and its follow-up Liam Gallagher documentary As It Was, BAFTA-nominated Maradona (from the Oscar-winning director of Amy and Senna - Asif Kapadia), BIFA nominated The Escape (starring Gemma Arterton and Dominic Cooper), Amazon’s Make Us Dream, BBC’s TV phenomenon Bros: After the Screaming Stops; the feature film adaptation of Horrible Histories, and, the Amazon Original feature documentary Rooney.

Lorton are also behind Apple TV+’s recently released Boom! Boom!: The World vs. Boris Becker from Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side) as well as Disney+’s forthcoming documentary series Wagatha covering the UK tabloid trial of the decade with exclusive access to Coleen Rooney.

Julian Bird

20 years experience working in the financial sector, raising finance for Banks and Insurance companies and advising Institutional Investors. Previously Head of European Equities at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods (KBW), the bank which he personally founded the European division of in 2012. Julian is the Founder & CEO of Lorton.

COO

Ed Barratt

Nearly 20 years’ experience in film and television.Ed has produced four independent feature films and executive produced a further ten projects. He is BAFTA recognised, BIFA nominated and was named a leader in his field by industry- body Creative England. Ed sits across all financing, development, production and distribution activities as in-house producer and COO.

Tommy Gordon

Tommy has worked at Lorton since 2016 and is involved in all areas of the business including Finance, Production and Sales.

Previously he worked in Equity Sales at a number of Investment Banks including Keefe Bruyette & Woods, and Dresdner Kleinwort. He has been involved in numerous productions including The Australian Dream, Bros: After the Screaming Stops and is currently producing the much anticipated Billion Dollar Dancer.

Arthur Landon

Whilst taking his degree in Media Production at UWE Bristol, Arthur worked for Merchant Ivory and Vertigo before landing a job with Between the Eyes (now 42) as a director. After writing, directing and producing his first feature he joined Lorton in 2017 where he has since become a partner and full time writer and producer.

Richard Wylie

Prior to joining Lorton Entertainment, Richard produced three independent feature films and was nominated for a British Independent Film Award as a scripted feature film producer. Specialising in the development of scripted and documentary narratives, Richard sits across the production and delivery of films and series for Lorton.

Angus Paskin Orr

Joined Lorton in 2018 as a development producer, attracting top talent and shaping the company's creative strategy. As Creator and Producer of the thrilling 4-part docu-series "Horsepower" on Amazon Prime Video, Angus delivers impactful content. With a passion for storytelling and innovation, he continues to grow Lorton’s slate. Angus's diverse background in the music industry and family offices brings a unique perspective to his role.

Lucy Hardy

Lucy has fifteen years’ experience producing a myriad of different projects from commercials and music videos to short films and features.

Lucy’s first feature film was the BAFTA-nominated KAJAKI The True Story, which also won a BIFA for Producer of the Year.

She has been with Lorton since 2019 and leads the production of our in-house documentaries. Notably, Lucy produced ROONEY on the life and career of football superstar Wayne Rooney, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2022. She is currently producing the upcoming boxing documentary series, STABLE which follows the exciting journey of the fighters from McGuigan Gym.

Financial Director

Nathan Wilson

A fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) who trained with global accounting network, BDO. He has gained significant experience in accounting standards and systems in numerous industries as well extensive knowledge of fund accounting and administration having worked for fund administrator, Ocorian. Nathan is Lorton’s Finance Manager and will work across the Fund and the group.

Holly Lewis

With 12 years’ experience working in the financial sector, Holly began her career in banking operations and progressed, to an equity sales trader, advising Institutional Investors and trading European equity stocks. More recently, Holly has gained the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.
